I think declining foreign arrivals is largely due to declining economies in the West. I know recession has not yet been officially recognized, but it soon will be, and the stats will show that it started some time ago.

Some of the Thai newspapers are now claiming that all the balcony jumpers and those falling off are related to ganja and about every other foreigner mishap. Total lies and no body calls them on it ! Balcony jumping has been a pastime here for as long as I can remember.

Well said Ben. Cannabis legalization was a really positive move. Peau Thai messed it right up. The fact that Cannabis was legal was a deal-maker for many tourists.

I’m all for the pro-pot stance of this channel and maybe…MAYbe, there is some connection. But I think there is some data missing. We need to see what the numbers are for western tourists. They will be the smokers, not the chinese, Malasians, etc. I have seen that a big part of this -7% is Chinese and I have never seen the Chinese getting down with that cheeba in Thailand.
