I’m a big Ohtani fan but I consider this talk very irresponsible–reckless speculation and pushing for Shohei to pitch in the playoffs as a reliever. I know he’d love to be pitching, and all of us would love to see it. But it’s totally wrong to put him in such a high intensity playoff situation when he’s had NO game experience on the mound even in a minor league game for a year. Protect the guy. He’s got years ahead of him to pitch for the Dodgers. Don’t risk his arm by putting him into such a high leverage game when all he’s done is throw bullpen sessions as he rehabs his arm. I think this decision is not his alone, either. He will respect the view of his doctor, the manager and the management. His doctor has already said he doesn’t think it’s wise for Ohtani to enter a playoff game on the mound yet.

Save him for the world series don’t waste him in games that don’t need him
