Shohei Ohtani is the first player in MLB history to have a 50-50 season. He has essentially tied up his third MVP as a DH only and seems to be cementing himself in the baseball card hobby. The question though is if he is still a good buy, if his cards can still go up, or if there is danger in how his prices have become. In this video we discuss all of the Shohei Ohtani Baseball Card fomo!
How cool would a pitching card of Babe Ruth
So pitching ohtani could be hard to have later in his career
Ohtani cards will go down in the future. Here is why. 1. He is 30 years old now. He is on the peak of playing career. 2. If he pitches again next year, his hitting will not come close to this year. Maybe 40 home runs and 30 to 35 stolen bases at best. 3. Look at all the Japanese players came to this league in the past, most of them peak at around 4 to 7 years of playing and then fade out. 4. His pitching is above average, not the best elite pitcher. 5. He could have another surgery in the near future. Injury prone on his arms.
Is this the big thing you were working on Scottie??? — BREAKING: Shohei Ohtani rookie card sells for record $336k at
Sothebys / FanaticsCollect the highest price ever paid for any Ohtani card.
How many steals does Rickey get with the bigger bases and pitchers not being able to throw over as much?
I could see his cards going higher, but at some point dipping below now, considering the hype of the first ever 50/50. Not a great time to buy now imo. Good time to sell now, depending when you bought in.
I’d take the $300k plus a meet a greet with ohtani and signed stuff. I’d be to afraid to leave the stadium because a ton of people may be waiting to kill me hahaha
MLB dodged a huge bullet with the Ohtani and gambling scandle..imagine if it went the other way
Save your money because what goes up will come down. Plus he should be busted for the gambling incident
I wouldn’t do FOMO buy because that’s my investment style. Ohtani cards will most likely go up in value excluding injury or another gambling scandal. However the trajectory of his cards increase will slow. There will be corrections along the way but the challenge is when will his cards drop? After a huge run up? You may pay more than compared to today. That’s what makes this exciting but not for me to play.
