Shohei Ohtani’s was spectacular this weekend – not only surpassing the 40 home run-40 stolen base mark at a record pace, but also throwing on the mound for the first time since his second elbow surgery. Do the #LADodgers need Ohtani to return to the pitcher position next season? Or is he better off staying a hitter/fielder. Dr. Alan Beyer of the @HoagOrthopedicInstitute provides explanations with ESPN LA’s Karlo Sy Su on the Road to Recovery.
I think Shohei should become a closer…instead of a starter
if he was just mediocre pitcher, then yeah… but he’s a cy young caliber starting pitcher. Bring him back, but manage his load better than the Angels did… they really abused him. I remember a double header last year, Shohei pitched a complete game shutout, then hit two homers in the second game… amazing, but C’mon man, that’s too much to put on any player, a manager who cared about Shohei would have rested him the second game.
Not your business. He’ll do what he wants to do and respect that!
Nobody who can’t do either is going to tell him what to do. He already stated clearly, he will stop if facing another major surgery but until then he is a two way player. Nobody else’s opinion matters.
Ohtani will do what he wants. For our sake, i hope he pitches and hits for years to come. We, as baseball fans, will all be the beneficiary of all that talent. One thing he is NOT, is boring to watch.
Yes he should
Stupid question. Next.
700mil for a DH under 10 years contract is not what the Dodger organization have planned for. But if he is actually hits 50-50 in this season, the Dodger may not allow him to pitch anymore to keep him away from any injury.
If Shohei stopped hitting he would probably be a top 5 pitcher. Probably lead the league in K’s
