Round ball + round bat = anything can happen in a one-game sample. Nobody panic. That said, I hope Canada beats yer ass tomorrow!

I put this here as the opinion of one Japanese baseball fan.
If the WBC is to be like the World Cup in soccer, where the best teams in each country compete against each other, MLB needs to change its mindset a little.
Of course, I know that the players who have been selected to represent their countries are playing baseball with all their might, and are fighting with their souls and spirits, and with their skills and techniques.
However, if a player who is scheduled to be selected has an injury or a breakdown, there is nothing that can be done, but I think it is a situation where the player has a desire to play, but the insurance policy or the baseball team stops him from doing so.
I understand that the world championships are held in the off-season and it is of course difficult to adjust to the conditions, but it is the professionals who can handle it and give dreams to the public and children who might be interested in baseball in the future.

The last place team who finished the same record @ 2-2 should not have to re-qualify. They should review that policy? Canada’s mercy rule does cost them if that Pool finishes the same way of Pool A and it’s a good possibility that USA, Canada, Mexico and Colombia end with similar records.

Every country seems to have a challenge with Pitching? Who would’ve thought Alcantara gets lit up like that? Credit to Venezuela’s pitching! They’re looking like an old school Johan Santana and Salvy Perez still looks young. Shocking to see every country go 2-2 in Pool A? Congrats to Italy for making to the 2nd round…. Mike Piazza is doing a great job!

It was a wonderful moment to witness what that lady did after Shohei’s HR. That lady who caught the ball is such a warm hearted person and I hope that sort of sense of respect and love prevails more among the world.
I’ve also seen many videos of US baseball fans catching a ball and genuinely giving it to kids and that warms my heart heart too.
