What do you think of the MLB Hall of Fame voting process?

Rolen had really good numbers. The eye test says he was Hall of really good, but that’s exactly why we keep stats to see it all in hindsight.

We all say we watched this guy or that guy growing up which translates to, I saw around 100 or so games of this guy’s career. There’re exceptions where some watched every single minute of his career or kept up with when he was on their team. I grew up watching Rolen and majority of that he was with the Cardinals, & Blue Jays. Making crazy stops and throws. Great hitter who could give you a home run at times. He’s a solid all-around player.
The thing about Rolen and why he IS deserving is when you consider the deep, deep history of baseball and how many guys have come and gone. Rolen’s stats are Hall worthy. Was he Schmidt, Ripken jr, or an Arod? No, but that shouldn’t take away Rolen’s induction and what he did accomplish either.

If Rolen doesn’t belong, then the Hall of Fame needs to be separate and two halls isnt a popular opinion. Guys like Ted Williams, Ruth, Mantle, Ripken, Miguel Cabrera, Pujols, Randy Johnson, Maddux would be in that elite tier, and I wouldn’t put Rolen in that group of Hall of Famers. I think that is where everyone’s issue lies. The elites, and goats like Mays, Cobb, Berra and so on share the same level of achievement as Dawson and Rolen. I wouldn’t put Utley in that group either, but i think Utley is a hall of famer on the same level Rolen is. Helton as well.

The hall shouldn’t be gate guarded either.
