I smoked cannabis regularly for 30+ years and then about 3+ years ago random testing was introduced into my workplace and I substituted it with beer. I’m now 24-28 lbs (12-13 kg) heavier and been informed by my doctor that alcohol abuse is doing more harm than cannabis!
Preach on Brother. Just finished bowl of that stuff myself-you know, that stuff that’s tied to a stick. Yeah you’re right, the Western messaging as well as policy has (had?) been criminal over my entire lifetime. Never believed I’d see it, but there does appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Peace
You are 100% correct: the uncertainty is causing people to hesitate investing. Remove this uncertainty and 10 billion is a genuinely conservative estimate
Commend you for pointing out that opposition to allowing commercial cannabis (ganja) business likely comes in large part from the alcohol and legal drug industries. It would be fun to find out how much opposition comes from the yaa baa industry (illegal drugs) but I value my life too much to ask more than once.
Allowing commercial cannabis makes both general rational sense and commercial sense. I wonder how much traction progress would have if it were only rational without also being commercial.
I would guess that the hangup here is not moral or general rationality but who gets how much spoils. How much do farmers, wholesale buyers, cigarette makers, eatables makers, wholesale distributors, little retailers, big retailers, etc get? How do the police, military, and various ministries get in on the action? Do Lotus, Big C, and Central all get to sell it too? Do they sell it in the grocery or pharmacy section? Does it have to be sold in bubble packs or can it be sold by the “kheet”? What is allowed to be mixed with it? Can it be sold at the local talaad nat? Who inspects for quality and purity? I see at least a dozen places for taxes and fees and stamps here.
Once all that gets sorted out, going ahead will take one proclamation and about ten minutes.
Just having fun. Mike
Just waiting for a Thai dubbed version of ‘Reefer Madness’, to stir things up even more. . .
Cannabis has become this “white whale” theory. I lived in Las Vegas, it’s been legalized for years. Supposedly it has brought in hundreds of millions dollars in revenue, nothing has changed. Schools are still broke and sorry, more homeless than ever, crime is out of control and taxes keep going up! Where is this magical weed money and what’s it doing?
Hopefully Thailand learns from the US and over countries, use the money for the their people and make their lives better.
The cannabis business in Florida is doing well.
