Thailand’s recently appointed prime minister has pledged to impose stricter controls on the medical use of marijuana, following the proliferation of numerous cannabis dispensaries throughout the country. This surge occurred after Thailand made history as the first Asian nation to decriminalize cannabis one year ago.
During an interview with Bloomberg Television’s Haslinda Amin in New York on Wednesday, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin announced the government’s intent to overhaul its cannabis policy. The primary focus will be on addressing the widespread emergence of dispensaries that openly sell the drug. The government aims to accomplish this reform within a six-month timeframe.
