As for the tainted alcohol, most likely it was home brew sold at the bar. When home brew is not distilled properly it leaves an excess amount of methanol in the finished product. I live in Cambodia, here the government sends government officials to teach the home brewers how to distill the alcohol properly. If you can not stop it then teach proper methods.

When you make moonshine, as Loa do. The first part we call “ The Devils Cut” it is Methanol. Don’t drink it. It will kill you.
